Revival of the 80s

One would think time is actually going backwards. The 90s are not yet forgotten, meanwhile we start seeing more and more 80s glam, with shoulder pads, animal prints, and even fanny packs making their way back to the runways and street style scene.

From Madonna breaking style boundaries to Katharine Hamnett envisioning the slogen tee, the 80s were a decade full of experimentation, and all about excess. Clothes were worn to make a statement, the bigger the better. More than three decades later, everything points towards the 80s reliving a serious comeback. Get ready for a blast from the past!

Shoulder pads Power dressing is back! Shoulder pads perfectly achieved that effect back in the 80s, and they are now back on track, in far softer cuts, but no less dynamic, thanks to labels like Balmain. To keep the 80s necessity from looking too "behind the times", tuck a shoulder padded blouse into high-waisted skinny pants (Skip the voluminous pants) and add a pair of killer heels or platforms!

Customised denim jackets

Bold denim is totally back. Considered a timeless piece, the denim jacket currently faces an 80s revival, getting covered in airbrushed art, pins, or patches. Whether you own a legit piece from the '80s, or customise your own doesn't matter, make sure it's oversize, and the denim's not too dark.

Glitter Sequins

Glitter sequins are considered a statement of the 80s glam, and designers like Balmain, Jill Stuart and J. Crew have been bringing them back, combining them in super-chic ways to modern pieces.

Animal prints

I loved the 80s vibes seen at Topshop Unique's SS17 show at London Fashion Week in September. Zebra prints were a red line throughout their collection, and, as seen at Christopher Kane or Preen, to name a few, seem to become THE fashion animal, pushing their leo colleagues off the throne.
